24 hour party people

FINALLY, the London Underground has decided to get real and as of this Friday (19th August) we're going to be able to move about the city 24 hours a day on Fridays and Saturdays, without losing 90 mins to the night bus, nodding off and waking up in Penge, funnelling our hard-earned cash into exorbitant Uber price surges or trying to find the unicorn of transport modes, a black cab which will cross the river after midnight.

Yep, the Central and Victoria lines are going to be on hand to take us from party to party (or let's be real, from those after-work drinks that got out of hand, to bed), throughout the night, every weekend. We think that calls for a party, so check out our guide to celebrating this brave new London.

Kick off your evening at Old Bengal Bar (Liverpool St, Central Line), with the limited edition Night Rider cocktail, a blend of gin, crème de cacao, hibiscus, lemon, egg white and blue curaçao, because everybody knows blue drinks are the best drinks. Then you can take a stroll to South Place Hotel (Liverpool St, Central Line), where legendary DJ Rui Da Silva (remember this?) will be playing in the Bar until 10pm.

Next, hop on the tube to Sartoria (Oxford Circus, BONUS POINTS: Central Line and Victoria Line) for another blue cocktail (we do love a theme), the Victoria Line Martini, which combines gin, sherry and orange bitters.

Once you're up west you've got two options for late night shenannigans: head down through Mayfair to Quaglino's (Green Park, Victoria Line) where you can luxuriate in its speakeasy-style surroundings, shimmying away and sipping gin cocktails until 3am; or into Soho to 100 Wardour St (Tottenham Court Rd, Central Line) where not only can you enjoy drinks and live music until 3am, but you can also eat until 2am. How terribly civilised.
