We can’t all afford a plane ticket to Australia but we can definitely all afford a ticket to the Natural History Museum which is basically the next best thing… This summer, take yourself out of London for the day and go on a virtual tour of the Great Barrier Reef. And where else can you have David Attenborough as your own personal tour guide?
It may have been off to a soggy start so far, but summer is technically here and we’ll be damned if we won’t get a picnic or two in. Hyde Park is the obvious spot, with its lush grass, rose gardens and of course The Serpentine complete with giant plastic swan-boats to peddle around in. It’s all kicking off this weekend with the Barclaycard British Summer Time festival, but keep your eyes peeled on their website for more events over the next few months.
Forget those bad childhood memories of boring school trips and dusty museums – the V&A has some seriously trendy exhibitions this season! Have a snigger at the Victorian girdles in the Undressed: A Brief History of Underwear exhibition or the lumps and bumps in the A History of Photography: The Body display. Or you could be a proper grown up and take in some Photography and Film for the 20th Century…
Not quite what you’d expect to find amongst the terraced houses of Kensington, London Olympia’s giant shiny dome hosts over 1.5 million visitors each year with a packed program of exhibitions. This year we’ll be ditching the animal products at the Just V Show, sampling fancy produce at the Speciality & Fine Food Fair and seeing how many free samples it takes to get boozed at the Great British Beer Festival. Foodie heaven!
After a busy day of reef dives and nude photography, you definitely deserve a good feed! Kensington Place is Notting Hill’s much loved neighbourhood restaurant, serving up some seriously good fish and chips. And the Michelin-Starred jewel in our Kensington crown, Launceston Place is always our go to spot if we fancy a real treat. Chef Patron Raphael Francois joined us this year from New York and has been working his magic in the kitchen!
